History


Dover Arkansas is rich in history. While the history of the town can be traced back to the Native Americans, the settlers did not find the small town until during the Civil War era. During the Civil War, the state was pronounced a confederate state and assisted in the mission of the confederates. After the war, Dover attempted to become an educational town creating the University of Dover as well as the Dover Academy Grade School. These schools did not last for long so the school district took over the education and the buildings. After this, the town became more of a lumber and banking town creating jobs and opportunities for those who own real estate in Dover.
